Współpracowała z najwybitniejszymi artystami ruchu surrealistycznego, między innymi Salvadorem Dalim, Meret Oppenheim, Albertem Giacomettim, Jean Cocteau. Początek XX wieku to czas narodzin awangardy. Artyści nowych środków ekspresji szukają między innymi w świecie mody. Dla surrealistów moda stała się źródłem inspiracji pośrednich i bezpośrednich. The beginning of the 20th century is the time of the birth of the avant-garde. Artists were looking for new means of expression, for example in the world of fashion. Fashion-related objects appeared in the art of surreal artists. A sewing machine or mannequins found their place among surreal fetishes. Artists of this movement also began to design clothing. Elsa Schiaparelli was a designer who materialized the assumption of surrealism in clothing. Together with Salvador Dali, she created, among others, Shoe Hat, lobster dress, Tear Dress and Sceleton Dress. These are surreal projects, they raise subjects close to surrealism. These motifs are present in the art of this movement. In this case, however, they are implemented through clothing and focus on the female body.
