Poniższa praca licencjacka mana celu porównanie głównych zjawisk lat 20. z wybranymi dziełami Francisa Scotta Fitzgeralda. W tym celu dzieło podzielone jest na cztery główne części: wstęp do epoki jazzowej, przedstawienie i postrzeganie lat 20. w wybranych utworach autorstwa Scotta F. Fitzgeralda oraz streszczenie. W powyższych rozdziałach omówiono następujące zagadnienia: Jazz i jego aspekty, flappers, prohibicja i przemytnicy, samochód jako nowa moda, nowe miasta, powieść Wielki Gatsby jako obraz literacki lat dwudziestych, "Diament wielki jak góra" jako ukryta aluzja do lat dwudziestych oraz "Ciekawy przypadek Benjamina Buttona" jako list do młodego pokolenia.Oczywiste jest, że proza literacka nie jest literaturą faktograficzną, dlatego prace Fitzgeralda cechuje kumulacja symboli, która w pewien sposób wprowadza interpretacje rzeczywistości, w której autor pisał swoje prace. Powyższe czynniki przekładają się na dwuznaczność prozy autora, której analizę i wzajemne powiązania przedstawiono w rozdziale drugim.

The following bachelor's thesis entitled The illustration of the Jazz Age in the works of Francis Scott Fitzgerald: The Great Gatsby, "The Diamond as Big as the Ritz" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” aims to compare the main phenomena of the 1920s with selected works by Francis Scott Fitzgerald. To this end, the work is divided into four main parts: an introduction to the Jazz Age, the depiction and perception of the 1920s in the selected works written by Scott F. Fitzgerald and a summary. The above chapters discuss the following issues; Jazz and its aspects, flappers, prohibition and bootleggers, automobiles as a new fashion, the new cities, the novel The Great Gatsby as a literary image of the 1920s, "The Diamond as big as a Ritz" as a hidden allusion to1920s and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" as a letter to the young generation.It is obvious that literary prose is not a literature of fact, therefore Fitzgerald's works are characterised by an accumulation of symbols, which in a way introduces interpretations of the reality in which the author was writing his works. The above mentioned factors translate into the ambiguity of the author's prose, the analysis and interrelation of which is presented in the second chapter.
