Germans in Biała at the turn of the 20th century.

Celem niniejszej pracy jest charakteryzacja społeczności niemieckiej w Białej na przełomie wieków XIX i XX, przy zachowaniu możliwie jak największego obiektywizmu. W celu optymalnego przedstawienia historii tej ludności praca została podzielona na cztery główne rozdziały. Pierwsze trzy mają charakter opisowy i przybliżają życie kulturalne, oświatę, sytuację społeczno-gospodarczą oraz strukturę religijną niemieckiej społeczności Białej, podczas gdy ostatni z nich przedstawia oblicza lokalnego konfliktu niemiecko-polskiego, który swoje apogeum osiągnął podczas tzw. "Bitwy nad Białką".

The purpose of this study was to characterise the German community in Biała at the turn of the 20th century while maintaining the maximum possible level of objectivity. For an optimal presentation of Biała's Germans history, the thesis was divided into four main chapters. The first three chapters describe the cultural life, the educational system, the social-economic situation and the religious structure of the German inhabitants of the city, while the last chapter demonstrates the local German-Polish conflict, as well as it's apogee, the "Battle of Białka".
