Prawa Jima Crowa, które zostały wprowadzone już na przełomie dziewiętnastego i dwudziestego wieku, utrudniły życie czarnej populacji w Stanach Zjednoczonych poprzez odseparowanie ich od ludzi rasy białej w niemal każdy możliwy sposób. Opresja i łamanie praw ludzkich spowodowane segregacją rasową doprowadziły do przełomowego oporu mającego na celu walkę o desegregację środków transportu publicznego—bojkotu autobusowego w Montgomery—który trwał od pierwszego grudnia 1955 r., do dwudziestego grudnia 1956 r., kiedy to Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks i inni liderzy bojkotu wsiedli do autobusu zajmując dowolnie wybrane siedzenia, tym samym zaznaczając koniec segregacji rasowej w środkach masowego transportu w stanie Alabama. Celem tej pracy jest analiza przedstawień bojkotu, kolebki całego ruchu na rzecz praw obywatelskich, w trzech filmach: “Długa droga do domu” (1990), “Bojkot” (2001) i “Behind the Movement” (2018). Praca rozpoczyna się od podstawowych informacji o segregacji i samym bojkocie, które są niezbędne dla zrozumienia fabuły i znaczenia postaci przedstawionych w filmach. Kolejne rozdziały skupiają się na każdym filmie z osobna, oferując dogłębną analizę przedstawionych wydarzeń i postaci. Pracę kończy konkluzja, która pokazuje, jak podejście do tematu zmieniło się na przestrzeni lat i jakie są cechy charakterystyczne każdego z filmów.

Jim Crow laws, which were introduced as early as at the turn of the 20th century, impeded the lives of black people in the United States by separating them from white people in almost every possible way. The oppression and violation of human rights caused by racial segregation led to the groundbreaking resistance fighting for desegregation on the public transportation—Montgomery bus boycott—which lasted from December 1st, 1955, to December 20th, 1956, when Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks and other leaders boarded a bus taking freely chosen seats, which officially marked the end of separating both races on means of transport in Alabama. The aim of this paper is to analyse how this boycott, a cradle of the Civil Rights Movement, has been presented in three movies: The Long Walk Home (1990), Boycott (2001), and Behind the Movement (2018). The paper opens up with background information about the segregation and the boycott itself, which is necessary for understanding the course of action and the role of the characters presented in the movies. The following chapters focus on each movie separately and provide an in-depth analysis of the depicted events and characters. This leads to the Conclusion, which summarises how the take on the subject has changed and what the characteristics of each movie are.
