Obserwuje się nowe kierunki rozwoju turystyki i trendy, które w niej zachodzą. W Zakopanem obserwuje się wzmożony ruch turystyczny, który charakteryzuje się dużą dynamiką. Dostrzegany jest niebagatelny wpływ turystyki na lokalną gospodarkę i dobrobyt mieszkańców. W pracy zbadano jak rozwijał się ruch turystyczny na przestrzeni lat, w jakim stopniu wpłynął na miasto i mieszkańców. Skonfrontowano również plany rozwoju Zakopanego wedle miejskiej strategii rozwoju na lata 2017-2026 z oczekiwaniami mieszkańców. Zarówno w opinii respondentów badania, jak i na podstawie danych statystycznych stwierdzono, że obserwowany jest dynamiczny wzrost liczby turystów odwiedzających Zakopane. Obserwuje się określone zjawiska charakterystyczne dla miejscowości turystycznej. Miasto Zakopane kieruje strategię rozwoju także w kierunku rozwoju turystyki.

Tourism is one of the fastest growing branches of the economy. It has a major impact on cities and tourist regions. In connection with the tourist movement, various processes take place in the economy, which positively and negatively affect local economies. There are new trends in tourism development. In Zakopane, there is increased tourist traffic, which is characterized by high dynamics. The significant impact of tourism on the local economy and the well-being of the inhabitants is noticed. The study investigated how tourism has developed over the years, to what extent it affected the city and its inhabitants. The plans for the development of Zakopane according to the urban development strategy for 2017-2026 with the residents' expectations were also compared. Both in the opinion of the survey respondents and on the basis of statistical data, it was found that a dynamic increase in the number of tourists visiting Zakopane is observed. There are specific phenomena characteristic of a tourist town. The city of Zakopane directs the development strategy also towards the development of tourism.
