Threats to children and adolescents on the Internet

Głównym celem niniejszej pracy była analiza zagrożeń związanych ze stale rosnącym znaczeniem Internetu w życiu dzieci i młodzieży. Przegląd dostępnej literatury z zakresu badanego zjawiska umożliwił zapoznanie się z naukowym podejściem do omawianego problemu oraz ustalenie przyczyn występowania poszczególnych zagrożeń internetowych. W niniejszej pracy wykorzystana została metoda sondażu diagnostycznego. Narzędziem badawczym wykorzystanym do przeprowadzenia badań był kwestionariusz ankiety z pytaniami skierowanymi do rodziców różnych grup wiekowych: pierwsza grupa badawcza obejmowała rodziców dzieci uczęszczających do klas I-IV, natomiast druga obejmowała rodziców dzieci z klas V-VIII. Analiza zebranego materiału empirycznego pozwoliła na weryfikację przyjętej przez autorkę hipotezy badawczej. Udowodniono, że ze względu na skalę badanego zjawiska do najważniejszych zagrożeń dla dzieci i młodzieży wynikających z korzystania z Internetu należą kontakt ze szkodliwymi treściami online, cyberagresja oraz uzależnienie od Internetu. Rozważania podjęte w niniejszej pracy badawczej tylko w niewielkim stopniu wyczerpują zakres omawianej problematyki. Mogą jednak stanowić wstęp do obszerniejszych badań, dotyczących skutecznego przeciwdziałania internetowym zagrożeniom wobec dzieci i młodzieży.

The main purpose of this study was to analyze the risks associated with the ever-growing importance of the Internet in the lives of children and adolescents. A review of the available literature on the phenomenon under study made it possible to become acquainted with the scientific approach to the problem in question and determine the causes of individual Internet threats. In this work, the diagnostic survey method was used. The research tool used to conduct the study was a questionnaire with questions addressed to parents of different age groups: the first research group included parents of children attending grades I-IV, while the second included parents of children from grades V-VIII. Analysis of the collected empirical material allowed verification of the research hypothesis adopted by the author. It has been proved that due to the scale of the studied phenomenon, the most important threats to children and adolescents resulting from using the Internet include contact with harmful online content, cyber-aggression and Internet addiction. The considerations made in this work only to a small extent exhaust the scope of the discussed issues. However, they can be an introduction to more extensive research on effective prevention of online threats against children and young people.
