Scenographer in the opera. Artistic cooperation between Boris Kudlička and Mariusz Treliński - selected examples

Celem niniejszej pracy jest analiza i opis operowych scenografii Borisa Kudlički we współpracy z reżyserem Mariuszem Trelińskim na podstawie wybranych przykładów. W trzech częściach poświęconych kolejno "Madame Butterfly", "Turandot" i "Zamkowi Sinobrodego" wskazuję na wpływ tradycji, sztuki nowoczesnej i współczesnej, kinematografii, kultury masowej oraz psychoanalizy w tworzeniu obrazów scenicznych. W każdym rozdziale skupiam się także na środkach artystycznych charakterystycznych dla stylu Borisa Kudlički, starając się ukazać jaki wpływ ma strona plastyczna na reinterpretację dzieła operowego, jego przekaz i wizualizację koncepcji reżysera.

The aim of this work is to analyze and describe the operatic set design by Boris Kudlička in collaboration with the director Mariusz Treliński based on selected examples. In three parts dedicated to "Madame Butterfly", "Turandot" and "Bluebeard's Castle" I point to the impact of tradition, modern and contemporary art, cinematography, mass culture and psychoanalysis on the creation of set design. In each chapter I focus as well on artistic means characteristic of the style of Boris Kudlička, trying to show what influence the visual side has on the reinterpretation of the opera, its message and visualization of the director's concept.
