Formal Education and secret teaching in occupied Poland during the Second World War

Celem pracy „Edukacja formalna i tajne nauczanie w okupowanej Polsce w okresie II wojny światowej” jest zwrócenie uwagi na zagadnienie formalnej oświaty i podziemnego nauczania podczas okupacji 1939-1945 na terenie Polski. Praca składa się z trzech rozdziałów. Pierwszy z nich zawiera założenia metodologiczne pracy oraz opis głównych pojęć w pedagogice. Pojęcia pedagogiki, edukacji, wychowania, edukacji formalnej, tajnego nauczania opisane są na podstawie literatury pedagogicznej i historycznej. Drugi rozdział przedstawia obraz edukacji formalnej w okupowanej Polsce. Przedstawia uwarunkowania wybuchu i przebiegu II wojny światowej, kondycję szkolnictwa powszechnego i średnich szkół ogólnokształcących, szkół zawodowych oraz szkół wyższych. Trzeci rozdział zawiera opis tajnego nauczania w okupowanej Polsce. Przybliża organizację podziemnej oświaty, obraz średniego szkolnictwa ogólnokształcącego na terenie Generalnej Guberni, tajnych szkół na terenie III Rzeszy oraz sytuację szkół wyższych pod okupacją niemiecką. Celem niniejszego historycznego badania naukowego w obszarze pedagogiki pozwala na zauważenie wartości i roli edukacji i podziemnego nauczania wobec kształtowania się dalszych losów oświaty polskiej.

The aim of the thesis “Formal Education and secret teaching in occupied Poland during the Second World War” is to draw attention to the issue of both formal and clandestine education during the occupation of 1939 – 1945 in Poland. The thesis is divided into three chapters. The first one consist of the methodological assumption of this thesis and description of the main pedagogical concepts. The concepts of pedagogy, education, upbringing, formal education, clandestine education are delineated on the basis of pedagogical and historical literature. The second chapter describes the issue of formal education in occupied Poland. It presents the conditioning and the process of the Second World War outbreak, the condition of the common education as well as high schools, vocational schools and universities. The third chapter contains a description of a secret education in occupied Poland. It approximates the organization of clandestine education, the image of high school on the premises of the General Government, secret schools in the Third Reich and the situation of universities under German occupation. The aim of the following historical research in the field of pedagogy is to notice the value and role of education and clandestine teaching in the formation of further fate of Polish education.
