The Collective Memory of the Holocaust of Selected European Union Nations After 1989.

Unia Europejska jest ciągle zmieniającym tworem polityczno-gospodarczym, którego dalszy rozwój zależy od państw członkowskich. Podejmowane są próby zbliżenia narodów unijnych poprzez wspólną narrację historyczną. Nie jest to łatwe zadanie, ponieważ kraje wchodzące w skład Unii posiadają odmienne doświadczenia. Tym, co łączy europejskie narody jest pamięć o Holokauście. Stąd pomysł, aby był on negatywnym mitem założycielskim Unii i podstawą tożsamości europejskiej. W niniejszej pracy podjęto rozważania na ten właśnie temat.

The European Union is the constantly changing political and economic creation whose further development depends on its member countries. The attempts are made in order to bring the union nations closer by the means of the common historical narrative. It is not an easy task, because the countries which are the part of the European Union have different experiences. What unites European nations it the memory of Holocaust. Hence, the idea to make it the negative founding myth of the Union and the basis of the European identity. This particular issue was discussed in the following thesis.
