Definitions of Docetism and their Critique

W poniższej pracy przedstawię kilka definicji doketyzmu, a co najważniejsze, tę proponowaną przez D. Streett’a, którą uważam za najlepiej oddającą obecne próby zdefiniowania tego złożonego zjawiska. Później przedstawię koncepcję doketyzmu, który mógł być bardziej intuicyjny dla starożytnej kultury żydowskiej i grecko-rzymskiej, tak jak to proponują R. Goldstein, G. Stroumsa i M. Hengel. Następnie, dokonam przeglądu źródeł które były uważane za związane z doketyzmem lub anty-doketyczną polemiką. Później dokonam krytyki definicji proponowanej przez D. Streett’a, wykorzystując źródła ukazujące wady tej definicji.

In the following work, I will present several definitions of Docetism, and the most importantly, one proposed by D. Streett, which I consider to be the best representation of the current attempts to define this complex phenomenon. I will then present the conception of Docetism, which may have been more intuitive for the ancient jewish and graeco-roman culture than Christianity, as proposed by R.Goldstein, G. Stroumsa and M. Hengel. Next, I will revise sources that have been considered to be related to Docetism or anti-docetic polemic. Then, I will critique the definition proposed by D.Streett, using sources that show the flaws of the definition.
