„Give the colours to their eyes, give them scars, weaknesses, vices and soul”. The picture of the Middle Ages in the novels by Elżbieta Cherezińska.

Niniejsza praca skupia się na powieściach historycznych Elżbiety Cherezińskiej. Jej celem jest omówienie na przykładzie powieści z cyklu ,,Odrodzone królestwo” oraz ,,Harda" sposobu przedstawienia średniowiecza przez pisarkę. Pierwszy rozdział poświęcony jest charakterystyce Elżbiety Cherezińskiej jako pisarki historycznej. Następnie przedstawiony został portret średniowiecznego władcy, obraz kościoła oraz sposób przedstawienia średniowiecznej kobiety. W kolejnej części poruszona została kwestia współczesnej powieści popularnej oraz tego, w jaki sposób autorka realizuje cechy tego gatunku.

The thesis focuses on Elżbieta Cherezińska’s historical novels. Its aim is to analyse the represantation of the Middle Ages in the series ,,Odrodzone królestwo" and a novel ,,Harda". The first chapter discusses Cherezińska as a writer of historical novels. Further on the motives of the ruler, the church and the women in the Middle Ages are explored. The last part is dedicated to contemporary popular novel and the way the author uses its features in her works.
