The Kwangju Uprising Presented in Filmography as a Testimony to the Tragedy of the Individual.

Niniejsza praca przedstawia zagadnienie powstania w Kwangju widziane przez pryzmat tragedii bohaterów wybranych produkcji filmograficznych. Celem pracy jest ukazanie owego powstania nie tylko od strony historycznej, ale i psychologicznej w oparciu o dramaty przeżyte przez bohaterów oraz dowiedzenie wpływu, jaki powstanie wywarło na ich psychice. Wydarzenie ukazano najpierw od strony historycznej, koncentrując się na genezie powstania, jego przebiegu, konsekwencjach oraz kontrowersjach na temat liczby ofiar masakry. Następnie dogłębnej analizie poddano poszczególne przypadki postaci wybranych produkcji. Przeanalizowano historię nastoletniej bohaterki „A Petal”, budując teorię zespołu stresu pourazowego będącego źródłem jej cierpienia. Ukazane zostały losy bohatera „Peppermint Candy”, którego dynamiczna postać z biegiem lat ulega radykalnej zmianie w wyniku doznanej podczas powstania traumy. Omówiono także samo zjawisko traumy, odnosząc się później do konkretnego przykładu bohatera. Autorka zaprezentowała pojęcie żałoby, nawiązując do teledysków grupy Speed pt.: „It’s over” i „That’s my fault”, które obrazują dramat doświadczonych w powstaniu studentek. Ukazano także zagadnienie depresji w oparciu o film „Sandglass” i główną bohaterkę serialu, która w wyniku doświadczonych podczas przesłuchań tortur doznała skazy na psychice. Poprzez dociekliwe badania stwierdzono wpływ powstania na poszczególnych bohaterów, w których psychikach zaszły różnego stopnia zmiany.

This thesis raises the issue of the Kwangju Uprising seen through tragedies of chosen filmography productions’ characters. The aim of the thesis is to portray the Uprising not only from the direction of history but also psychology, basing on characters’ tragedies and proving the Uprising’s influence on their psyches. To begin with, the issue was pictured from the historical direction, focusing on the Uprising’s genesis, process, implications and the number of victims controversy. Subsequently the particular filmography productions’ characters’ cases were submitted for a deep analysis. A story of “A Petal” movie’s teenage girl character was scrutinized, creating a theory of a posttraumatic stress disorder being the girl’s suffering source. “Peppermint Candy” movie’s character’s fate was portrayed, whose dynamic self has dramatically changed over the years due to the Uprising trauma. The trauma phenomenon itself was also discussed, rising to the character’s case. The thesis author presented a mourning appearance, adverting to Speed’s music videos called “It’s over” and “That’s my fault”, which depict two students witnessed with the Uprising. A depression phenomenon was also pictured, basing on a “Sandglass” movie and the series’ main character’s story, whose psychology came to harm during hearing tortures. Through investigative studies there was proven an Uprising influence on particular characters, whose psychologies have variously changed.
