Metafory pojęciowe i ich analiza pod względem kwestii społecznych w rapie

Głównym celem pracy było zanalizowanie użycia metafor pojęciowych Lakoffa i Johnsona w trzech okresach muzyki rap. Nacisk został położony na porównanie metafor i problemów społecznych między tymi okresami. Rap wraz z biegiem lat zmienia się, a raperzy przedstawiają część swoich przemyśleń w piosenkach w sposób metaforyczny. Metafory użyte przez artystów różnią się w piosenkach, tak samo jak pozycja społeczna Afroamerykanów.Dysertacja składa się z trzech części. W pierwszej z nich zawarto teorię dotyczącą AAVE, spekulacje odnośnie jego pochodzenia, jak i cechy charakterystyczne tego dialektu. W drugiej części została przedstawiona historia muzyki rap oraz teorie metafor. Trzecia część to analiza zebranego materiału: 24 piosenki, po osiem na każdy okres.Analiza wybranych piosenek pod kątem ich metaforyki wykazała interesującą tendencję – podczas gdy ilość metafor strukturalnych wzrastała z biegiem lat, metafory ontologiczne były coraz rzadziej używane. Wyniki analizy pokazują, że metaforyka zmienia się, a tematyka piosenek odzwierciedla rzeczywistość, w której żyją Afroamerykanie.

The main aim of this thesis was to analyse the use of Lakoff and Johnson’s conceptual metaphors in three periods of rap music. The emphasis was put on the comparison of metaphors and social problems between those periods. Rap has changed over the years, and rappers represent some of their reflections in songs in a metaphorical way. Metaphors used by artists differ in the songs, and so does social status of African Americans.The dissertation consists of three chapters. The first chapter includes the theory of AAVE, some speculations about its origin and main characteristics of the dialect. In the second chapter the history of rap music and theories of metaphor were presented. The third part is the analysis of the collected material: 24 songs, eight for each period.The analysis of the selected songs’ metaphoricity showed an interesting tendency – while the number of structural metaphors has increased over the years, ontological metaphors were less frequently used. The results of the analysis show that the metaphoricity in rap evolves, and topics of songs reflect the reality in which African Americans live.
