Wpływ piosenek na przyswajanie słownictwa oraz motywację uczniów szkoły ponadgimnazjalnej

Głównym tematem niniejszej pracy jest użycie piosenek w nauczaniu języka obcego. Praca przedstawia zarówno teoretyczną, jak i praktyczną stronę problemu. W części teoretycznej opisane zostały zarówno pozytywne, jak i negatywne aspekty używania piosenek w czasie lekcji. Przeanalizowany został ich wpływ na naukę słownictwa oraz na poczucie motywacji do nauki. W sekcji teoretycznej zostały podane również liczne przykłady ćwiczeń z użyciem piosenek, które mogą zostać wykorzystane podczas zajęć języka angielskiego. Ostatnim elementem części teoretycznej jest opis badań związanych z wpływem używania piosenek na różne aspekty nauczania.Część praktyczna przedstawia badanie przeprowadzone w celu przeanalizowania wpływu używania piosenek na nauczanie słownictwa oraz motywację uczniów. Badanie polegało na przeprowadzeniu sześciu lekcji z użyciem piosenek w grupie piętnastu uczennic technikum. Narzędziami badawczymi były: test przeprowadzony przed treningiem, oraz testy przeprowadzane w trakcie jego trwania. Po zakończeniu treningu zbadano także motywację uczennic do nauki języka angielskiego. Narzędziem badawczym, które posłużyło do zbadania motywacji, był kwestionariusz.Analiza zebranego materiału wykazała, że poziom znajomości badanych słówek znacznie się polepszył po przeprowadzeniu treningu z wykorzystaniem piosenek. Przed treningiem uczennice nie potrafiły przetłumaczyć większości słówek na język polski, natomiast po jego zakończeniu były w stanie używać tych samych słówek w zdaniach. Analiza danych z kwestionariusza wykazała, że trening wpłynął w pozytywny sposób na poziom motywacji badanych uczennic.

The present paper describes the issue of using songs in foreign language teaching and learning from the theoretical, as well as the practical perspective. The theoretical section focuses on the advantages and disadvantages of using songs during lessons. The positive and negative sides described in this section refer to the influence of listening to songs on vocabulary learning as well as on the students’ perceptions of motivation. The theoretical part includes also various examples of exercises which can be used during lessons with the use of songs. The last element which is presented in the theoretical section is the description of studies which examine the role of using songs in different aspects of teaching. The empirical section focuses on the study conducted in order to examine the influence of using songs on teaching vocabulary and students’ motivation. The action research was conducted during six lessons in a group of fifteen Polish students of senior secondary school. The students’ vocabulary retention was tested by means of a pre-test and post- tests. After the training the students’ evaluation of the lessons and their perceptions of their motivation to learn English were checked. The research tool which served to measure those aspects was a questionnaire.The analysis proved that the students’ knowledge of the vocabulary introduced during the training improved. Before the training the learners could not translate many words into their mother tongue, and after the training they were able to use the same words in sentences. The analysis of the questionnaire showed that the training had a positive impact on the students’ motivation to learn English.
