Ninja in popular culture in Japan on the example of the manga and anime Naruto.

O ich istnieniu wie każdy, o ich prawdziwym życiu niewielu. Pojawiają się w różnych dziedzinach życia: w literaturze, życiu codziennym, na ekranie. Posiadają niesamowite umiejętności. Są w stanie znikać fizycznie i przenikać umysł. Ich cel jest jeden: skraść serce odbiorcy.Ninja – wojownicy cienia, zajmujący ważną pozycję zarówno w historii, jak i kulturze japońskiej, budzili we wszystkich strach i ciekawość. Człowieka od zawsze intryguje wszystko, co tajemnicze, a ninja to postaci zagadkowe i metafizyczne. Zajmują honorowe miejsce w sztuce, literaturze, a współcześnie również zdobywają popularność w mass mediach. Po raz pierwszy o tajemniczych wojownikach świat usłyszał w VII wieku w Chinach. Osiem stuleci później dowiedzieli się o nich mieszkańcy Japonii. Sztuka przetrwania, którą opanowali ninja, zyskała takie uznanie, że do dzisiaj wciąż się ją stosuje.Niniejsza praca ma za zadanie przedstawić transformację ninja na przestrzeni wieków i ocenę tych zmian, począwszy od ich historycznego wizerunku, kończąc na kreacji w japońskiej animacji Naruto. W związku z postawionym celem dokonano zestawienia współczesnych i historycznych wojowników cienia. Praca jest również próbą udowodnienia, że postać ninja jest dzisiaj inaczej postrzegana niż dawniej.

Everyone knows about their existence, but not everyone knows about their real life. They appear in literature, daily life and cinema. They posses extraordinary abilities. They are able to disappear physically and penetrate the mind. However, their goal is one: to steal the heart of the recipient.Ninja – shadow warriors, who have an important position in both Japanese history and culture, arouse the fear and curiosity. Man has always been intrigued by everything mysterious and enigmatic, and metaphysical as ninja. Those warriors have an honor place in arts, literature, and nowadays they are also gaining popularity in the media. The world heard about ninja for the first time in the seventh century in China. Eight centuries later the people of Japan learned about them. The art of survival, which was mastered by ninja, has gained such recognition that today it is still used.This thesis’s goal is to show ninja transformation over the centuries and evaluate those changes, starting with their historical image, and ending with their presentation in Japanese animation Naruto. Therefore, there is a comparison of historical and modern shadow warriors. Moreover, this thesis also tries to prove that the ninja figure is seen different today than it was in the past.
