Tęczówka jest umięśnionym fragmentem błony naczyniowej otaczającym źrenicę. Wykazuje bogatą różnorodność i niepowtarzalność zarówno pod względem barwy, jak i struktury.W niniejszej pracy omówiono budowę i role melaniny w organizmie oraz zróżnicowanie cech pigmentacyjnych człowieka. Przedstawiono także analizę zróżnicowania struktury i barwy tęczówki oraz korelacje jej barwy z innymi cechami pigmentacyjnymi na wybranej grupie badawczej. Badania miały charakter pilotażowy. U każdej z badanych wykonano zdjęcie oka, przy takim powiększeniu, że umożliwiało to dokładną analizę tęczówki. Zwrócono szczególną uwagę na podstawowe cechy, takie jak: lokalizacja krezki, nasilenie krypt, ilość bruzd promienistych oraz występowanie pierścieni. Określono także barwę włosów, brwi i rzęs oraz przeprowadzono ankietę, w której zapytano o miejsce pochodzenia oraz kolor oczu, włosów, brwi i rzęs rodziców badanych. Uzyskane dane pokazały, że można zauważyć dużą zależność pomiędzy wszystkimi cechami pigmentacyjnymi człowieka. Dotyczy to szczególnie koloru oczu i włosów. Dodatkowo istnieje korelacja pomiędzy strukturą tęczówki, a jej barwą. Konieczne jest jednak zweryfikowanie wyników na bardziej licznej grupie.

The iris is the muscular part of the vascular layer of the eyeball that surrounds the pupil. It exhibits a rich diversity and the uniqueness in terms of both color and structure.This study analyzes the structure and role of melanin in the organism and the differentiation of human pigmentation. It also presents the analysis of a variation in the structure and color of the iris and the correlations of color with other pigmental features conducted on the chosen research group. The research has a nature of a pilot study.It required taking a photograph of the eye of each person being tested , with such magnification that allowed a thorough study of the iris. Special attention was paid to the main characteristics, such as the location of the mesentery, the severity of the crypts, the number of radial grooves and the presence of rings. What was also defined were the color of the hair, eyebrows and eyelashes. There was also a survey that asked about the place of origin and the color of eyes, hair, eyebrows and eyelashes of the parents of the interviewees.The obtained data showed that there is a big correlation between all the characteristics of human pigmentation. This concerns particularly the hair and the color of the eye. In addition, there is also a correlation between the structure of the iris and its color. It is necessary, however, to verify the results of a more numerous group.
