Influence of selected endocrine diseases on the condition and appearance of the skin

Niniejsza praca porusza tematykę wybranych chorób endokrynologicznych i ich wpływ na stan i wygląd skóry. Ukazuje, że skóra nie pełni tylko roli zewnętrznej pokrywy ustroju, ale jest z nim ściśle związana. Praca ma na celu przedstawienie i powiązanie występujących zmian skórnych wywołanych przez choroby endokrynologiczne. W niniejszej pracy omówione zostały przyczyny, rodzaje i charakter powstawania przebarwień skórnych, jak również zmiany o charakterze zapalnym takie jak łojotok czy trądzik pospolity. Poruszony został także problem zmian hormonalnych, ich charakterystyka i rola jaką pełnią w skórze. W pracy znajduję się również rozdział szeroko opisujący hiperandrogenizm oraz zespół policystycznych jajników (PCOS), ich objawy i leczenie. Obszerna część pracy poświęcona została chorobom tarczycy tj.: niedoczynność, nadczynność, choroba Hashimoto czy choroba Gravesa-Basedowa. Praca ukazuje jak ważną rolę w organizmie człowieka odgrywają hormony, ich brak jak i nadmiar może zrujnować zdrowie, wygląd oraz znacząco wpłynąć na stan psychiczny. Styl życia i to jak postrzegamy nasze ciało, ma wpływ na przebieg i leczenie dolegliwości związanych z chorobami układu endokrynnego. Pod tym kątem zostały opisane również sposoby leczenia schorzeń skóry oraz wybranych chorób układu wewnątrzwydzielniczego. Coraz więcej osób zapada na choroby układu endokrynnego, dlatego bardzo ważne jest podkreślenie istoty problemu oraz nie bagatelizowanie objawów. Pozwoli to na szybką reakcję i ewentualnie zapobiegnie dalszemu rozwojowi choroby i pogorszeniu stanu zdrowia.

The objective of this work was to present the problem of certain endocrine diseases and their impact on the condition and appearance of the skin. It proves that the skin not only acts as the system's outer cover, but it is closely related to it. The main aim of the study was to find, present and connect existing skin lesions caused by endocrine diseases. The work discusses the causes, types and nature of the skin discoloration, as well as inflammatory changes such as seborrhea or acne vulgaris. Furthermore the paper describes the problem of hormone changes, their characteristics and their role in the skin. It also describes hyperandrogenism and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), their symptoms and treatment. A large part of the work was devoted to the diseases of the thyroid gland: hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, Hashimoto's disease or Grave’s-Basedow disease. These illustrate how important a role the hormones play in the human body, how their lack or excess can ruin one's health, appearance and significantly affect the mental state. Both the lifestyle and how we perceive our bodies has an impact on the course and treatment the ailments associated with diseases of the endocrine system. In this respect the methods of treating skin disorders and chosen diseases of the endocrine system were described. A lot of people fall ill with diseases of the endocrine system, which is why it is very important to highlight the essence of the problem and not underestimate the symptoms. To sum up, it will allow to react quickly and possibly prevent further development of the disease and the deterioration of health.
