Artykuł poświęcony jest problemowi ordynacji mniszek buddyjskich. Przedstawia historię święceń kobiet w buddyzmie, od ich powstania, przez zanik, po starania związane z przywróceniem święceń mniszek w dzisiejszych czasach. Praca skupia się na opisaniu przyczyny sprzeciwu wobec ordynacji w tradycjach, w których ta nie występuje, oraz na współczesnych próbach rozwiązania kwestii sprzecznej. Ważnym elementem artykułu jest przedstawienie procesu przywracania ordynacji oraz wykazanie, jaki wpływ mają na powyższy proces buddyści pochodzący z Zachodu.

Article is about the problem with ordination of Buddhist nuns. It presents the story of women's ordination in Buddhism, from the establishment of the female monastic community, through its disappearance in certain traditions, until the contemporary attempts at re-establishment. Article focuses on description of the causes of the opposition against ordination in those Buddhist traditions, where there is no female monastic lineage, and also on contemporary attempts to overcome those obstacles. The important element of the article is to show the process of reestablishing the ordination and to point out the importance of the Buddhists from the West in influencing that process.
