The work discourses at selected issues related to the stories of the witcher, Geralt, by Andrzej Sapkowski, collected in the volumes The last wish and The sword of destiny. In the context of these works, the text outlines the understanding of some terms, such as fantasy, fairy tale or demonology; in two chapters particularly focusing on methods which the author of the stories uses to re-tell stories, fairy tales, legends, themes and threads known from the literature and culture. The third chapter discourses at the linguistic issues, such as humor, irony and intertextuality, and the role of poet the creator, and the problem of autothematism. The final part of the chapter presents the literary context through which the comparison of ways to take inspirations from the culture, especially literature is made.
