Androgyny, Gender, Unisex - the blurring of sexual boundaries in fashion

Celem tej pracy, jest pokazanie jak zjawisko zwane modą wpływa na upłynnienie granic płciowych w naszej kulturze i społeczeństwie. Zbadany został również aspekt jak estetyka gender wpływa na kolekcje projektowane przez najsłynniejszych kreatorów mody, a także te występujące w sklepach sieciowych. Przywołane zostało pojęcie androgynii, a co się z tym wiąże osób androgynicznych - przejawiających cechy zarówno kobiece, jak i męskie. Kolejnym przedmiotem rozważań był styl unisex, który zdominował obecny rynek odzieżowy, dzięki promowaniu ubrań bez klasyfikacji na płeć. Poprzez popularyzowanie osób, które nie identyfikują się jednoznacznie z daną płcią, działalność kreatorów mody, a także rezygnację z kategoryzacji ubrań ze względu na płeć, moda pozwala edukować społeczeństwo, wskazywać nowe procesy, jakie niesie ze sobą XXI wiek oraz uczyć tolerancji. Pokazuje przy tym, że stanowi nieodłączny element naszej kultury, poprzez obecność w wielu dziedzinach życia. Jest również najczytelniejszym sposobem na wyrażanie tożsamości płciowej i roli społecznej, jaką jednostka odgrywa w życiu. Dzięki temu wpisuje się w problematykę, jaką porusza pojęcie gender (oznaczającym płeć kulturową).

The aim of this thesis is to show how a phenomenon called fashion influences on liquidate the boundaries of sex in our culture and society. Another important issues that have been included in the work is how aesthetics of gender affects on the most famous fashion designers collections, as well as those found in chain stores. It is connected with the concept of androgyny and androgynous people - manifesting traits of both feminine and masculine sex. Another subject of discussion was the unisex style that has dominated the current clothing market by promoting clothes without classification by sex.By promoting people who do not identify themselves clearly with a particular gender, fashion designers activity, as well as resignation of categorization clothes on grounds of sex, fashion can educate the society, identify new social processes that brings twenty-first century and to teach tolerance. It shows here that is an integral part of our culture, by the presence in many areas of life. It is also the most comprehensible way to express the gender identity and social role in our society. As a result, it raises the issue of gender, which means social role and our sex in culture.
