Correlation between schooling climate and psychosocial functioning of students in secondary school

Celem pracy jest ustalenie relacji klimatu szkoły z funkcjonowaniem psychospołecznym uczniów gimnazjum. Funkcjonowanie psychospołeczne obejmuje samoocenę uczniów, satysfakcję ze szkoły, nasilenie przejawiania i doświadczania zachowań agresywnych, poziom poczucia wsparcia i zagrożenia oraz cechy prospołeczności i agresywności, a także aspiracje życiowe badanej młodzieży. Przebadano 59 uczniów klas trzecich gimnazjum, w tym 27 dziewcząt i 32 chłopców. Do pomiaru wykorzystano skalę dyferencjału semantycznego Moja Szkoła, zmodyfikowaną wersję Skali „O” i Skali „A”, Kwestionariusz Nastawień Intrapersonalnych, Interpersonalnych i Nastawień wobec Świata oraz autorską Skalę Satysfakcji ze szkoły. Wyniki uzyskane w badaniu pozwoliły na ustalenie relacji między oceną klimatu szkoły a funkcjonowaniem psychospołecznym uczniów. Ocena klimatu różnicuje poziom funkcjonowanie psychospołecznego uczniów. Wykazano istotne statystycznie korelacje dodatnie między oceną klimatu szkoły a samooceną ogólną uczniów, poziomem poczucia wsparcia oraz wyrażaną satysfakcją ze szkoły. Wykazano istotne statystycznie korelacje ujemne między oceną klimatu szkoły a nasileniem doświadczania agresji na terenie szkoły oraz poziomem poczucia zagrożenia uczniów.

The purpose of the research is to identify correlation between schooling conditions and psychosocial functioning of students in secondary school. Psychosocial functioning of students consisted of student’s self-esteem, satisfaction taken from school that was chosen, experiencing and intensity of types of aggressive behaviors, empathy, support and threat levels, pro and antisocial characteristics, as well as life ambitions of tested group. Tested group consists of 59 students of third grade of secondary school, including 27 female and 32 male students. Study was performed with usage of semantic differential scale “My School”, modified versions of Scales O and “, Intrapersonal, Interpersonal Attitude Questionnaire and Attitude Towards the World Questionnaire, as well as School Satisfaction Scale invented by author. The results of extensive analysis proved correlation between schooling conditions and psychosocial functioning of students in tested environment. Level of schooling climate differentiates levels of psychosocial functioning of students. Conducted study revealed statistically significant positive correlation between schooling conditions and student’s self-esteem, support received from the group and general satisfaction from the schooling institution. Study also proved statistically significant negative correlation between schooling conditions and intensity of aggressive behavior on the school ground and general insecurity level between students.
