English interwar travelogues on Yugoslavia: Defining European Identity

This thesis covers interwar travelogues written by primarily British authors who traveled to Yugoslavia between the dates of 1919 and 1940. In their writings the themes were focused on nationalism, tensions between different ethnic grous, conflicts in achieving national identities, and how the authors juxtaposed east vs west in their attempts in defining what exactly was Euroean identity.
