„Talk show” in Poland and United States of America. Kuba Wojewódzki – impersonator or innovator? „Talk show” Kuba Wojewódzki in relation to American productions: The Tonight show with Jay Leno and Late Show with David Letterman

„Talk show” jest gatunkiem telewizyjnym, który narodził się w Stanach Zjednoczonych. Praca prezentuje historię tego gatunku w USA oraz w Polsce. W teorii mediów podawane są dwie daty powstania „talk show”: rok 1950, kiedy na antenie NBC wyemitowany został program "Broadway Open House" oraz rok 1952, kiedy swój początek miał program "Today". W Polsce pierwsze „talk show” pojawiło się w 1956 roku i było nim "Tele-echo". W pracy przedstawione zostały ponadto najważniejsze cechy tego gatunku. Została omówiona szczegółowo rola publiczności, języka oraz emocji – elementów składowych „talk show”. W części praktycznej pracy przedstawiona została próba analizy odcinków „talk show' "Kuba Wojewódzki" w odniesieniu do wybranych amerykańskich wzorców ("The Tonight show with Jay Leno" oraz "Late show with David Letterman"). Praca zawiera również analizę gości „talk show” "Kuba Wojewódzki" oraz samego gospodarza programu. Głównym celem pracy jest znalezienie odpowiedzi na pytanie: Czy Kuba Wojewódzki jest nowatorem czy naśladowcą w zakresie tworzenia „talk show”.

„Talk show” is the television genre which originated in the United States of America. This thesis presents the history of the genre in USA as well as in Poland. The birth of the genre, according to media theory is linked to two milestone events: first emission of "Broadway Open House" on NBC in 1950 and release of Today programme in 1952. First „talk show” in Poland was introduced in 1956 with the emission of "Tele- echo". In addition to historical background, this thesis presents the most important characteristics of the genre. Certain key aspects of „talk show” genre have been discussed notably the importance of audience, language and expression style and role of emotions. The empiric section of the thesis presents an attempt of performing an analysis of selected emissions of Kuba Wojewódzki „talk show” in the context of chosen American counterparts (The Tonight show with Jay Leno and Late show with David Letterman). This document contains additionally the analysis of guest profiles who were invited to Kuba Wojewódzki „talk show” as well as of the profile of the host himself. However, the main goal of the thesis is to find an answer to the question whether Kuba Wojewódzki is an innovator or rather an impersonator in terms of hosting a „talk show” programme. lk show”.
