Neologisms in translation on the basis of translations of Lems "Bajki Robotów" and "Cyberiada"

Temat niniejszej pracy brzmi: Neologizm w tłumaczeniu na przykładzie tłumaczeń powieści Lema "Bajki Robotów" i "Cyberiada" na język niemiecki. Pierwsza część ma charakter teoretyczny i składa się z dwóch rozdziałów. Przedstawione zostały definicje pojęcia neologizm, który sprawia trudność w procesie tłumaczenia. W drugim rozdziale przedstawione zostały sposoby poszerzania zasobów słownictwa. Ostatnia część ma charakter analityczny. Zostały przeanalizowane neologizmy utworzone przez Lema oraz ich tłumaczenia na język niemiecki. Do każdego z przykładów została określona strategia tłumaczeniowa zastosowana w procesie tłumaczenia. Analiza uwidacznia trudności w przekładzie neologizmów, w szczególności neologizmów zawartych w powieściach science fiction. Przekład neologizmów w tego typu tekstach jest dla tłumacza dużym wyzwaniem i wymaga od niego kreatywności.

The topic of the thesis is: Neologisms in translation on the basis of translations of Lems "Bajki Robotów" and "Cyberiada". The first part of the thesis focuses on explaining the term of neologism and processes, which are involved in, as well as problems in field of its translation. There is a few possibilities to translate new words and they are presented in this thesis. The last part has an analytic character and contains examples of Lems neologisms and their translations into German. The analysis shows the difficulties, which appear in the process of translating neologisms in literary texts, especially when it comes to science fiction novels.

Das Thema der vorliegenden Arbeit lautet: Neologismen in der Übersetzung am Beispiel der deutschen Übersetzungen von Romanen „Bajki robotów“ und „Cyberiada“ von Stanisław Lem. Der erste theoretische Teil besteht aus zwei Kapiteln. Es werden Definitionen des Begriffs Neologismus dargestellt, der als ein Übersetzungsproblem betrachtet wird. Im zweiten Kapitel werden Möglichkeiten der Wortschatzerweiterung genannt, die man bei der Übersetzung anwendet. Der letzte Teil hat einen analytischen Charakter. Es werden die polnischen Neologismen und ihre Übersetzungen ins Deutsche analysiert. Man stellt jeweils fest, welche Strategie der Übersetzung der Übersetzer angewendet hat. Die Analyse verdeutlicht, dass die Übersetzung von Neologismen, besonders in der Science-Fiction-Literatur, eine große Herausforderung ist und die Kreativität von Übersetzern fordert.
