The ampelograhic description of grapevine cultivars from a university vineyard.

Celem pracy było utworzenie opisu ampelograficznego szesnastu odmian winorośli z winnicy uniwersyteckiej w Łazach. Dokładna charakterystyka owoców i liści ukazała różnorodność w obrębie gatunku. Opis ten oparty został na międzynarodowych określnikach OIV. Praca jest zatem istotnym uzupełnieniem wiadomości na temat winnicy „Nad Dworskim Potokiem” i uprawianych odmian winorośli.Materiał badawczy stanowiły dojrzałe liście i kiści, a także poszczególne jagody i pestki szesnastu odmian winorośli. Głównym narzędziem badawczym był zbiór określników ampelograficznych międzynarodowej organizacji OIV. Określniki te służą do opisywania cech morfologicznych winorośli. Ocenie podlegały dojrzałe liście w kategoriach takich jak: wielkość, kształt, długość szypułki, czy rodzaj zębów na krawędzi blaszki liścia. Badano także parametry kiści, pojedynczych owoców i pestek. Oceniano ich rozmiar – długość, szerokość oraz wagę, jak również kolor i kształt.Analiza ukazała różnice między odmianami winorośli hybrydowej. Zidentyfikowano zróżnicowanie w rozmiarach i kształtach, ale także wydobyto cechy szczególne. Występowanie konkretnych cech wiąże się z pochodzeniem szczepu, w tym z proporcjami między przodkami dzikimi a szlachetnymi. Różnorodność w obrębie odmiany ma związek z warunkami klimatycznymi obszaru uprawy, czy występowaniem chorób winorośli. Odporność na niską temperaturę, jak również na choroby i insekty, a co za tym idzie jakość całej rośliny warunkowana jest zatem wieloma czynnikami. W efekcie otrzymano szczegółowy opis ampelograficzny zgodny z międzynarodowymi wymogami. Dotyczy on następujących odmian uprawianych w winnicy uniwersyteckiej: Alden, Aurora, Bianca, Cascade, Einset, Frontenac, Hibernal, Jutrzenka, Leon Millot, Marechal Foch, Muscat, Rondo, Serena, Seyval Blanc, Sibera, Swenson Red.

The target of this dissertation was to create ampelographic descriptions of 16 varieties of grapevines from the university vineyard in Łazy. The detailed description of grape berries and leaves was aimed at illustrating the diversity within the species. The descriptions were based on the international OIV characteristics. The dissertation is thus and important supplement to the information concerning „Nad Dworskim Potokiem” vineyard and the grapevine varieties cultivated there. The research material consisted of ripe leaves and grape clusters as well as particular berries and seeds, of 16 varieties of grapevine. The main research tool was the set of ampelographic characteristics of the international organization OIV. These characteristics are used as means of description of grapevine morphological properties. Ripe leaves were assessed in the following categories: size, shape, stalk length and the kind of teeth on the leaf margin. Parameters of grape clusters, particular berries and seeds were assessed as well, in the following categories: size (length, width and weight) as well as colour and shape.The analysis showed differences among the varieties of hybrid grape vine. Differences in sizes and shapes were observed and characteristic features were identified. Occurrence of particular features is related to the strain origin, which includes the proportions between the common and wild grape vines among the ancestors. The diversity within the variety is also related to the climate of the cultivation area as well as illness incidence. Resistance to low temperatures, illnesses and insects, and, consequently, the general quality of the plant is thus dependent upon a multitude of factors. Conducting the research as well as literature overview allowed for the target of the dissertation to be fulfilled. A detailed ampelographic description, compliant with international standards, was created. It refers to the following varieties cultivated in the university vineyard: Alden, Aurora, Bianca, Cascade, Einset, Frontenac, Hibernal, Jutrzenka, Leon Millot, Marechal Foch, Muscat, Rondo, Serena, Seyval Blanc, Sibera, Swenson Red.
