Melpomene in Puławy. Dramas written by Francis Denis Kniaźnin

Niniejsza praca poświęcona jest utworom dramatycznym autorstwa Franciszka Dionizego Kniaźnina. Jej głównym celem jest udowodnienie, że Kniaźnin zasługuje na tytuł nie tylko czołowego poety XVIII wieku, lecz również na miano dramaturga i jednego z twórców polskiej sceny oświeceniowej. Praca składa się z czterech rozdziałów. Pierwszy z nich dotyczy teatru polskiego w okresie oświecenia – omówione zostały jego następujące rodzaje: scena dworska, teatr szkolny, scena narodowa, teatry magnackie. W rozdziale drugim przedstawiona została sylwetka Franciszka Dionizego Kniaźnina. Wyróżnione zostały także jego najpopularniejsze utwory. Trzeci rozdział zawiera informacje o Puławach, które na przełomie XVIII i XIX wieku stanowiły jeden z głównych ośrodków życia kulturalno-artystycznego w Polsce. Omówiono w nim specyfikę tego miejsca. Wyjaśniono także rolę teatru w Puławach i jego znaczenie dla księstwa Czartoryskich oraz pozostałych puławskich domowników i gości. Rozdział czwarty w całości dotyczy utworów dramatycznych Franciszka Dionizego Kniaźnina. W pracy zanalizowano wszystkie dramaty poety, a zatem: dwie sielanki dramatyczne – „Trzy gody” („Troiste wesele”) i „Zosiny”; dwie „krotochwile” – „Marynki” i „Anakreon”; dwie opery – „Matka Spartanka” oraz „Cyganie”; dwie tragedie – „Temistokles” i „Hektor”. Podsumowanie pracy zawiera informacje na temat recepcji dramatów Kniaźnina. Opisany w nim został także stosunek samego autora do własnych dzieł.

This work is devoted to drama works by Francis Denis Kniaznin. Its main purpose is to prove that Kniaznin deserves the title not only leading poet of the eighteenth century, but also to be called the playwright and one of the founders of the Polish scene of the Enlightenment. The work consists of four chapters. The first concerns the Polish theater during the Enlightenment - discusses the following types: courtly scene, a school theater, the national scene, magnate theater. The second chapter presents the figure of Francis Denis Kniaznin. Featured were also his most popular pieces. The third chapter contains information about Pulawy, which at the turn of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries were one of the main centers of cultural and artistic life in Poland. It discusses the specifics of the place. It explains also the role of theater in Pulawy and its importance for the principality Czartoryski and other family members and guests. Chapter four is all about dramatic pieces of Francis Denis Kniaznin. This work analyzed all the dramatic pieces of the poet, and therefore, two pastoral drama - "Three mating" ("Threefold wedding") and "Zosiny" two "slapstick" - "Marynki" and "Anacreon" two operas - "Mother Spartan" and "Gypsies" two tragedies - "Themistocles" and "Hector." Summary of the work contains information on the reception of the Kniaznin dramas. It describes also the ratio of the author to its own works.
