Network face of horror literature

Przedmiotem pracy jest literatura grozy dostępna w postaci sieciowej. Została ona zaprezentowana w kontekście książki w postaci tradycyjnej. Celem niniejszej pracy jest wykazanie, że sieciowe oblicze literatury grozy nie zdominuje literatury grozy w postaci tradycyjnej. Praca zawiera informacje dotyczące literatury grozy, jej historii, przyczyny powstania, głównych twórców tego gatunku, a także wybrane przykłady z tej dziedziny. Autorka pokazała wady i zalety każdego z wybranego przez siebie sposobu czerpania wiedzy (książka tradycyjna, e-book, audio-book, film czy gra video). Przeprowadzone badania polegały na porównaniu zainteresowań książką i Internetem studentów i osób powyżej 50 roku życia. Badania zostały przeprowadzone wśród studentów Akademii Górniczo – Hutniczej w Krakowie oraz wśród seniorów w Podgórskiej Bibliotece Publicznej, Filii nr 16 w Krakowie. Zastosowano kwestionariusz ankiety oraz analizę porównawczą. Wyniki badań wykazały, że ankietowani preferują książkę w postaci tradycyjnej, choć korzystają także z innych mediów (e-book, audio-book, film czy gra video).

The subject of thesis is an investigation of the characteristics of the network face of horror literature in the context of a book in traditional form. The aim of the study is to show the network face of horror literature didn’t domination a book in traditional form. The thesis provides an overview of horror literature, its history, its genesis, the main writers of the genre, as well as selected examples that belong to this category. The author of this thesis wants to explore the advantages and disadvantages of each of the chosen media (traditional book, e-books, audio-books, films or video games). The study was designed to investigate the similarities and differences in the appeal that the book and the Internet hold among university students and people above the age of 50. The research was conducted among a number of students of the University of Science and Technology in Cracow and in a group of senior readers of the Podgórze Public Library, Branch no. 16 in Cracow. Data for this study was collected with the use of a questionnaire, where results were examined by means comparative analysis. This survey shows that the respondents prefer a traditional form of book. However, they also use other media, including e-books, audio-books, films or video games.
