Nursing care of patients with paranoid schizophrenia

Schizofrenia należy do chorób psychicznych dotykających prawie 1% populacji krajów wysoko rozwiniętych. Ujawnia się w młodości i charakteryzuje się specyficznymi objawami i dynamicznym przebiegiem. Najczęstszą postacią tej choroby jest schizofrenia paranoidalna. W jej obrazie dominują urojenia i omamy. W okresie nasilenia doznań chorobowych konieczna jest hospitalizacja szpitalna, której celem jest złagodzenie lub usunięcie objawów chorobowych i przywrócenie do samodzielnego funkcjonowania w rodzinie i środowisku. Celem pracy było przedstawienie procesu pielęgnowania chorego z schizofrenią paranoidalną. W pracy zastosowano metodę analizy dokumentów, a narzędziem była analiza treści piśmiennictwa wykorzystanego do jej napisania. Zaproponowany proces pielęgnowania wdrożony do praktyki, powinien wpłynąć na poziom pielęgnowania chorego na schizofrenię paranoidalną oraz na jakość życia tych osób.

Schizophrenia is a mental disease that affects almost 1% of the population of highly developed countries. Its symptoms are revealed at an early stage of human lives and have specific features and dynamic course. The most frequently occurring form of the disease is paranoid schizophrenia. Its clinical picture is dominated by disillusions and hallucinations. In the period of the intensification of morbid experiences there is need for hospitalization aimed at the mitigation or removal of morbid signs and restoring the patient’s independent functioning in the family and community.The aim of the thesis is a presentation of a process of nursing care of a patient with paranoid schizophrenia. The author has applied document analysis in the thesis, and the tool chosen is the analysis of the references applied in writing. The proposed process of nursing care, when implemented in practice, should affect the level of care of patients suffering from paranoid schizophrenia and the quality of their lives.
