Trafficking in Persons in Latin America

Handel ludźmi ze względu na ogromną skalę, jego niezwykle dynamiczny rozwój iat liczbę ofiar, które pochłania możemy wymienić go wśród najpoważniejszych problemów XXI wieku. Zjawisko to jest z jednym z najbardziej dochodowych przykładów działalności przestępczych naszych czasów. Pod najważniejszymi względami i na podstawie wielu powtarzających się cech przypomina on niewolnictwo i uznać go możemy za jego współczesną formę. Jest najbardziej brutalnym i okrutnym przestępstwem wobec człowieka, odbierającym mu najbardziej fundamentalne prawa. W grupie największego ryzyka znajdują się kobiety i dzieci, wykorzystywane w tym procederze do różnorakich celów takich jak: handel organami, nielegalne adopcje, prace przymusowe, wcielanie do ugrupowań zbrojnych, prace w sektorze domowym. Jednak najbardziej popularną jego formą jest handel ludźmi na tle wykorzystywania seksualnego. Podczas, gdy do krajów pochodzenia ofiar zalicza się w głównej mierze kraje rozwijające się, państwa przeznaczenia stanowią przede wszystkich kraje Europy Zachodniej i Stanów Zjednoczonych.W walkę z handlem ludźmi zaangażowane są różnego rodzaju organizację, które podejmują się rozmaitego rodzaju działań jak np. przeprowadzanie kampanii społecznych, czy wprowadzanie regulacji prawnych .Ameryka Łacińska w kontekście handlu ludźmi pojawia się niezwykle często. Wskaźnik występowania tego procederu jest wysoki. Wymieniana jest ona obok Azji i Afryki jako największy dostawca kobiet. Wynika to z sytuacji ekonomicznej, społecznej i politycznej owych krajów. Są to w głównej mierze kraje niestabilne politycznie, gdzie panują ogromne nierówności społeczne, dyskryminacja kobiet i stosowanie wobec niej przemocy. Są rezultatem przede wszystkim tradycji regionu opierającej się na patriarchalnych, machistowskich, i seksistowskich schematach. Wpływ na to zjawisko ma także szereg innych czynników bezpośrednio lub pośrednio powiązanych z kondycją finansową społeczeństwa takich jak: niski poziom edukacji i świadomości społecznej czy też chęć „wyjścia z impasu”. Jakkolwiek by tego nie tłumaczyć sytuacja z każdą chwilą staje się coraz bardziej niebezpieczna i urasta do rangi bardzo poważnego problemu, gdyż uderza bezpośrednio w serce Ameryki Łacińskiej, czyli w jej mieszkańców.

Due to its unusually rapid development and the number of victims which are affected, we can list human trafficking amongst one of the most serious global problems of the 21st century. This phenomenon is one of the most lucrative examples of criminal activity in our time. One of its important aspects is based on a number of recurring similarities that suggests it resembles a modern form of slavery. It is a very brutal and cruel crime against humanity; stripping away the most fundamental rights of human beings.Women and children are at the greatest risk of being exploited by human trafficking and are often required for one of the following: selling their organs, illegal adoptions, forced labour, recruitment into armed groups and domestic labour. However, the most popular form of human trafficking is sex related. While the victims are mainly from developing countries, the destination countries are primarily Western European and the United States of America. Several organizations are involved in the fight against human trafficking and are tackling the issue through public campaigns and the introduction of legal regulations. Latin America appears within the context human trafficking very often. Here, the rate of this crime is very high. It is suggested that alongside Asia and Africa, Latin America is the largest supplier of women. It is the result of the social, political and economic situations of the countries. These are largely politically unstable countries where people face enormous social inequality, discrimination against women and/or the use of violence against them. They are primarily the result of regional traditions based on the patriarchal, masochistic, and sexist patterns. Simultaneously, the impact of this phenomenon has a number of other factors directly or indirectly related to the financial soundness of society such as low levels of education and social awareness or the desire to "break the deadlock". Although, this doesn't explain how dangerous the situation is becoming with each passing moment, it has been recognized as an extremely serious problem since it strikes directly at the heart of Latin America; its people.
