Analiza świata tekstu na podstawie świata stworzonego przez J. R. R. Tolkiena o nazwie Śródziemie

Głównym celem tej pracy magisterskiej jest analiza świata tekstu na podstawie świata stworzonego przez Johna R. R. Tolkiena o nazwie Śródziemie przy użyciu semantyki światów możliwych i jej rozszerzeniu, Teorii Świata Tekstu (Text World Theory). Chciano to osiągnąć poprzez wyszukanie poszczególnych elementów tworzących ten świat oraz analizę w jaki sposób zostały one użyte.Najpierw została przeprowadzona analiza modalnej taksonomii Tolkienowskich światów możliwych. Następnie, skupiono się na jednostkach, które są obecne w świecie Middle-earth. Sporządzony został diagram odzwierciedlający diagram Nicholasa Reschera, który ukazuje podział na grupy jednostek bardziej lub mniej oddalonych od świata aktualnego. Ostatecznie, przeprowadzona została analiza symboli używanych przez Tolkiena.Wyniki analizy wykazały, że badany świat teksu nie jest aż tak oddalony od świata aktualnego. Okazało się również, że balans pomiędzy elementami bardziej oddalonymi oraz bliższymi w kategorii bliskości do świata aktualnego został zachowany zgodnie z przekonaniami Tolkiena na temat natury jego świata.

The purpose of this master thesis is the analysis of a text-world creation on the basis of John R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth with the application of possible world semantics and its development, Text World Theory. The aim was to find out which building elements were used in creating this rich world and how these building blocks were organised.First, an analysis of the modal taxonomy of the Tolkienian possible worlds was carried out. Then, the focus was shifted to possible individuals peopling the Middle-earth. The diagram was proposed, mirroring the diagram of Nicolas Rescher in order to provide a clear division of the most proximate and remote individuals in the semantic space of Tolkienian oeuvre. Finally, an analysis of the symbols used by Tolkien was conducted.The results indicate that the text-world under analysis tends to be not so remote from the actual world. It has been revealed that the balance between the most remote and the more proximate individuals, in terms of their accessibility to the actual world, has been preserved, in accordance with Tolkien's creation claim about the nature of his world.
