The sense of coherence versus the level of stress of the parents whose children stay in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Pobyt nowonarodzonego dziecka w Oddziale Intensywnej Opieki Neonatologicznej jest wydarzeniem wywierającym wpływ na życie rodziców dziecka. W pracy przedstawione zostały najczęstsze patologie które przyczyniają się do pobytu dziecka w oddziale intensywnej terapii. W części teoretycznej omówiona została koncepcja poczucia koherencji oraz koncepcje biologicznego i psychologicznego stresu. W części empirycznej opisane zostały bania których celem było ocena zależności pomiędzy poczuciem koherencji (SOC) i jej składowymi: zrozumiałością , zaradnością i sensownością a poziomem lęku. Badania przeprowadzono wśród rodziców których dzieci przebywały w Oddziale Intensywnej Opieki Neonatologicznej. Miały one na celu pogłębienie zrozumienia zależności dotyczących sposobów radzenia sobie w sytuacjach trudnych.

The stay of an neonate in The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is an event which affects the life of the parents. In the thesis the most common pathologies which contributes to the stay of a newborn in The Intensive Care Unit were presented. In the theoretical part of the thesis the concept of the sense of coherence as well as the concept of biological and psychological stress were discussed. In the empirical part of the thesis there was described the research which aim was to evaluate the correlation between the sense of coherence (SOC) with its components: comprehensibility, resourcefulness and reasonableness versus the level of anxiety. The research was held amid the parents whose children were staying in The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The aim of the research was to broaden the understanding of how the parents cope with difficult situations they face.
