The purpose of this study was an attempt to show developmental changes in the content and structure of self-concept in girls with mild intellectual disabilities during adolescence. The study was covered by a group of 120 people. Experimental group (N = 60) were girls with a diagnosis of mild intellectual disability attending special schools, a group comparison (N = 60) was composed of students of mass schools. Age range of the surveyed girls contained the age from 14 to 21 years. The study was conducted using the polish version of the Self- Perception Profile For Adolescents by Susan Harter. On the basis of the results obtained in the self-concept content, it has been proved that girls with intellectual disabilities rate their competence higher than their non-disabled peers. The observed results, however, did not reach statistical significance. The structure of self-concept has proven to be more consistent with people without disabilities. However, this trend can only be observed with the lower secondary school students. At the stage of vocational school, people with disabilities have a greater degree of coherence of the structure of self-concept. Substantial developmental changes in the content and structure of self-concept in both, the experimental and the control group has not been demonstrated. Subjects belonging to the younger age group (lower secondary school students) in the vast majority rate their skills higher than their older peers (students of vocational schools).

Celem niniejszej pracy była próba ukazania zmian rozwojowych w treści i strukturze obrazu siebie u dziewcząt z niepełnosprawnością intelektualną w stopniu lekkim w okresie adolescencji. Badaniami objęta została grupa 120 osób. Grupę eksperymentalną (N= 60) stanowiły dziewczęta z diagnozą niepełnosprawności intelektualnej w stopniu lekkim uczęszczające do szkół specjalnych, grupa porównawcza (N= 60) składała się z uczennic szkół masowych. Przedział wiekowy badanych osób zawierał się w zakresie od 14 do 21 lat. Badanie przeprowadzono przy użyciu polskiej wersji Skali Spostrzegania Siebie autorstwa Susan Harter. Na podstawie uzyskanych wyników w zakresie treści obrazu siebie wykazano, iż dziewczęta z niepełnosprawnością intelektualną oceniają swoje kompetencje wyżej w porównaniu do swoich pełnosprawnych rówieśniczek. Zaobserwowane rezultaty nie osiągnęły jednak poziomu istotności statystycznej. Struktura obrazu siebie okazała się być bardziej spójna u osób pełnosprawnych, tendencję tą można zaobserwować jedynie u uczennic gimnazjum. Na etapie szkoły zawodowej osoby z niepełnosprawnością charakteryzują się większym stopniem spójności struktury obrazu siebie. Nie wykazano zasadniczych zmian rozwojowych w treści i strukturze obrazu siebie zarówno w grupie eksperymentalnej jak i kontrolnej. Osoby badane należące do młodszej grupy wiekowej (uczennice gimnazjum) w zdecydowanej większości oceniają swoje kompetencje wyżej, niż ich starsze koleżanki (uczennice szkół zawodowych).
