What's going on? Story, game and drama as a communication tools in relations between the main characters in the novel ”The story of my wife” written by Milán Füst.

Celem niniejszej pracy dyplomowej była charakterystyka relacji głównych bohaterów powieści Milána Füsta pt.: "Historia mojej żony", a dokładniej skupienie się na sposobie ich komunikacji. Poprzez analizę dialogów i odgrywanych scen podjęte zostały próby określenia roli opowieści, zabawy i teatru w budowaniu wzajemnego porozumienia między postaciami. W pracy wykorzystane zostały między innymi publikacje takie jak: "Życie w poszukiwaniu opowieści" P. Ricoeura, "Zabawa a rzeczywistość" W. Okonia czy "Człowiek w teatrze życia codziennego" E. Goffmana. Dokładne badania przeprowadzone w poszczególnych rozdziałach pozwoliły na wyciągnięcie wniosku, że opowieść, teatr i zabawa utworzyły specyficzny kanał komunikacyjny w związku głównych bohaterów, stając się niezwykle ważnym i niemal jedynym nośnikiem faktów. Odgrywanie ról pełniło także istotną funkcję katartyczną, a zabawa sprzyjała pogłębianiu relacji intymnych.

The purpose of the present thesis was to characterize the relations between the main characters in the novel "The story of my wife" written by Milán Füst, focusing specifically on the mode of their communication. The analysis of the dialogues and scenes served determining the role of stories, games and the theater in building mutual understanding between the characters. The approach assumed was substantially based on works such as "Life in quest of narrative" by P. Ricoeur, "Zabawa a rzeczywistość" [Play and reality] by W. Okoń and "The presentation of self in everyday life" by E. Goffman. The research presented in the thesis led to the conclusion that the combination of stories, games and drama results in the establishment of a specific communication channel in the relationship between the main characters, which becomes important and which is almost the sole carrier of truth. Moreover, role playing performs the cathartic function, whereas games are conducive to developing intimate relationships.
