"About Occupation" - the first trilogy by Patrick Modiano ("La place de l' étoile", "La ronde de nuit" and "Les boulevards de ceinture").

Pierwsza część wstępna : Celem pierwszej części wstępnej jest zarysowanie wątku historycznego, a więc ukazanie sytuacji politycznej i społecznej Francji w okresie tuż przed oraz w trakcie okupacji niemieckiej. Ponadto zostanie poruszona kwestia żydowska oraz przykłady dzieł należących do tzw. literatury Shoah.Druga część wstępna: Celem drugiej części wstępnej jest przedstawienie sylwetki Patricka Modiano, jego twórczości literackiej i, w mniejszym zakresie, filmowej.Część analityczna: W części analitycznej przystępujemy do analizy trzech pierwszych dzieł literackich Modiano, począwszy od „La place de l’étoile”, przez „La ronde de nuit”, po „Les boulevards de ceinture”. Główne wątki to: poszukiwanie tożsamości, relacja: ojciec – syn, bohater – zdrajca, jednostka – lud w okresie wojny, antysemityzm.Zakończenie: Konkluzja pokazuje na czym polega wyjątkowość i oryginalność prozy Modiano na tle bogatej literatury Shoah.

The first introduction gives a historical outline of the political and social situation in France in the period immediately before and during the German occupation. Additionaly, the Jewish issue is raised and some examples of books belonging to the so-called Holocaust literature are presented.The second introduction offers a portrait of Patrick Modiano with a presentation of his literary output and a sketch of his cinematic work.The analytical part provides a study of the first three books of Modiano, beginning with « La place de l’étoile » through « La ronde de nuit » to « Les boulevards de ceinture ». The main issues raised are the quest for identity, wartime relations of father-son, hero-traitor and individual- people, as well as anti-Semitism.The conclusion presents the uniqueness and originality of Patrick Modiano’s prose against the background of the Holocaust literature at large.

Première partie introductive : L’objectif de la première partie introductive est de circonscrire la trame historique, de montrer ainsi la situation politique et sociale de la France à l’époque juste précédant et pendant l’occupation allemande. De surcroît, il sera abordée la question juive et des exemples d’œuvres appartenant à ce que l’on appelle la littérature de la Shoah.Deuxième partie introductive : Le but de la deuxième partie introductive est de donner un portrait de Patrick Modiano, de sa création littéraire et, dans une moindre mesure, cinéaste.Partie analytique : Dans la partie analytique, nous procédons à l’analyse des trois premières œuvres modianesques, commençant par "La place de l’étoile", à travers "La ronde de nuit", jusqu’aux "Boulevards de ceinture". Les trames principales sont : la quête de l’identité, la relation : père – fils, héros – traître, individu – peuple en période de guerre, l’antisémitisme.Conclusion : La conclusion montre comment on peut définir la particularité et l’originalité de la prose modianesque dans le cadre de la littérature de la Shoah tellement large.
