The ability of a patient with Parkinson's disease to be self-sufficient in a domestic environment

Processes which occur in the course of a progressive Parkinson’s disease are irreversible, complex and very individual. They result in the limitation of physical fitness, mental and social efficiency. Furthermore, they require from a patient as well as a guardian a constant adjustment.The aim of this diploma project is to recognize health, mental and social needs of a person suffering from Parkinson’s disease and to determine the ability to function independently in a domestic environment and also the ability to be self-sufficient. The conclusions correspond to the aim and the research problems of this project. It is concluded that a person suffering from Parkinson’s disease is able to function independently in a domestic environment but their ability to be self-sufficient depends on many factors. The lack of self-sufficiency, to a great degree, depends on the age of a person suffering from Parkinson’s disease as well as the presence of other diseases the person might have. Nevertheless, the support given to an ill person in a home community helps them to deal with everyday activities.

Procesy dokonujące się podczas rozwijającej się choroby Parkinsona są nieodwracalne, złożone i mają charakter bardzo indywidualny. Niosą one ze sobą postępujące ograniczenie sprawności fizycznej, psychicznej i społecznej. Ponadto zmiany te wymagają zarówno od pacjenta jak i opiekuna ciągłej adaptacji.Celem pracy jest rozpoznanie potrzeb zdrowotnych, psychologicznych i socjalnych osoby z chorobą Parkinsona, oraz określenie zdolności do samodzielnego funkcjonowania w środowisku domowym, zdolności do samoopieki.Stwierdzono, że osoba z chorobą Parkinsona jest zdolna do samodzielnego funkcjonowania w środowisku domowym, ale jej zdolność do samoopieki zależy od wielu czynników. Deficyt samoopieki w dużej mierze zależy od wieku jak i od obecności chorób współistniejących osoby cierpiącej na chorobę Parkinsona. Natomiast otrzymywane wsparcie we wspólnocie domowej pomaga choremu w podejmowaniu czynności dnia codziennego.
