Spatial and temporal perspectives and Ingarden’s philosophical anthropology

Zgodnie z definicją podaną przez Ingardena, zarówno perspektywa przestrzenna, jak i czasowa polega na prawidłowych odchyleniach zawartości wyglądów spostrzeganych przedmiotów (procesów, zdarzeń) w stosunku do obiektywnych ich cech. Perspektywa przestrzenna pozwala odkryć, że przestrzeń naszego spostrzeżenia jest "przestrzenią zorientowaną". Perspektywa czasowa na rozmaite sposoby skraca lub wydłuża czas minionych procesów. Wymaga ona również odpowiedniego układu orientacji. Omówiono perspektywy przestrzenne i czasowe w dziele literackim - i to zarówno w samym dziele, jak i jego konkretyzacji. Sięganie w przeszłość może mieć za przedmiot także naszą własną osobę. Perspektywa czasowa może tu zmieniać nie tylko nasze własności, ale i samo "ja" będące ich podmiotem. Opisane przez Ingardena przeżywanie czasu wyklucza pojmowanie "ja" jako fantomu wytwarzanego przez życie w teraźniejszości oraz perspektywy czasowe. W końcowych uwagach podkreślono, że perspektywa przestrzenna nie dopuszcza odchyleń od rządzących nią praw, natomiast jeśli chodzi o perspektywę czasową, to mamy nad nią pewną władzę. Wciąż nowe perspektywy przestrzenne rozszerzają naszą wiedzę o świecie, ale tylko perspektywa czasowa może wspomagać budowanie naszej osobowości.

According to the definition given by Ingarden both spacial and temporal perspectives consist in regular deflections of the aspects of the objects (processes, events) perceived in relation to their objective traits. The spacial perspective enables the discovery that the space of our perception is an „oriented space”. The temporal perspective, in a variety of ways, shortens or elongates the time of the bygone processes. It requires also a corresponding system of orientation. Under discussion are the spacial and temporal perspectives in a literary work, and that both in the work itself and in its concretization. To go back into past may have as its object also our own person. The temporal perspective may change here not only our properties but also our "self" which is their subject. The experience of time, described by Ingarden, excludes the conception of the "self" as a phantom produced by the life in the present and the temporal perspectives. In the final comments it is stressed that the spacial perspective does not admit any departure from its regulating rules, whereas in the case of a temporal perspective we have it, to some extent, within our grasp. Constantly new spacial perspectives widen our knowledge of the world but it is only a temporal perspective that may assist the development of our personality.
