The water management in Zakopane

The thesis presents the main areas of water management in Zakopane: water and sewage management, flood protection and small hydroelectric power industry. Because of the tourist character of Zakopane, the main focus has been put on water and sewage management, including its current issues (water supply, sewage purifying and piping of) and presenting the history of its development connected with the development of the city. Moreover, the paper indicates the main characteristics of the area that influence the lack of flood risk. It lists and describes the small hydroelectric power stations operating in the city. The thesis presents the main problems of water management in Zakopane and the perspectives of its development.

Praca zawiera charakterystykę gospodarki wodnej w Zakopanem w zakresie gospodarki wodno-ściekowej, ochrony przed powodzią oraz małej energetyki wodnej, przy czym, szczególny nacisk, ze względu na turystyczny charakter Zakopanego, położony został na gospodarkę wodno-ściekową. Przedstawiono jej stan aktualny (zaopatrzenie miasta w wodę, odprowadzanie i oczyszczanie ścieków) oraz ukazano historię jej rozwoju na tle rozwoju miasta. Ponadto wskazane zostały główne cechy obszaru wpływające na brak zagrożenia powodziowego w Zakopanem oraz wymienione i opisane małe elektrownie wodne działające w mieście. Przedstawione zostały problemy, z jakimi boryka się ta dziedzina gospodarki w Zakopanem oraz perspektywy jej rozwoju.
