Marek Włodarski (1903-1960), nazywany przedstawicielem polskiej szkoły Légera, „pomówiony o surrealizm”, zapisał się w historii sztuki polskiej w sposób indywidualny i oryginalny. Inspiracja jarmarcznym teatrem, formą szyldów i pocztówek, atmosferą prowincji, wreszcie powinowactwo duchowe z Schulzem - wszystko to potwierdza analiza niereprodukowanych i niewystawianych dotychczas prac, do których dotarła autorka tekstu. Malarstwo to, oscylując między poetyką baśni a wymyślonym przez samego artystę „faktorealizmem”, pozostało wierne lirycznej odmianie groteski.

Marek Włodarski (1903-1960), was referred to as a representative of Polish school of Léger, and accused of surrealism. He is known in the history of Polish art for originality and individuality. He was inspired by stall-theatre, the form of sign-boards, postcards, the atmosphere of provincial life. One can find affinities in his artworks with the writings of Bruno Schulz, too. These inspirations are revealed in the works not published and exhibited yet. His painting, situated between poetry and the realism of fact (facto-realism) as the painter called it himself, is faithful to the lyrical subgenre of grotesque.
