Report on the international conference "Bioinnovation International Summit 2010" held in Gdynia and Gdańsk on the 21st and 22nd October 2010

The 2010th edition of the international conference Bioinnovation International Summit held in Gdynia and Gdańsk on the 21st and 22nd October 2010 focused on the legal and practical aspects of the transfer and commercialization of research results and technology in life science (biotechnology, chemistry, pharmacy and medicine). The event was meant for any parties, e.g. ambitious students and researchers, who plan to commercialize theirs research results and obtain competent knowledge of the intellectual property law, with the emphasis on industrial property rights. The organizing committee succeeded in providing expert speakers - lawyers, researchers or business parties from Poland, Great Britain, Israel and the United States. The speeches, frequently accompanied by heated discussion and lobby debates, referred to strategies in organizing the transfer and commercialization of technology, innovative means of technology transfer, commercialization of research results, cooperation with the seed capital investor, licensing the patent rights, intellectual rights strategic management or to the key problems and challenges in the intellectual property protection. The conference was enriched by presentations of institutions offering financial aid for researchers or business solutions for transfer and commercialization of research results or technology (e.g. spin off partnerships).
