Measurement scale validation in management research

Rozwój nauk o zarządzaniu przejawia się formułowaniem zależności pojęć, która umożliwia predykcję zmian kluczowych zmiennych oraz zdolność podejmowania lepszych decyzji. Warunkiem rozwoju jest pomiar konstruktów. Niniejszy artykuł sytuuje walidację w procesie rozwoju skal pomiarowych. Proponuje cztery współzależne procedury walidacji: treściową, fasadową, konstruktu oraz nomologiczną. Wyjaśnia ich istotę, związki z psychometrią, bieżącą praktykę nauk o zarządzaniu oraz formułuje rekomendacje w zakresie doskonalenia metodologii badań.

The development of the management theory requires the formulation of construct interrelations, which allows for predicting key variables behavior and helps taking better decisions. It is dependent upon construct measurement. This paper locates validity assessment in the process of scale development. Four validity procedures have been outlined: content, face, construct and nomological ones. Their respective contents, psychometric grounds, current management literature practice and recommendations have been formulated.
