This paper is an attempt to present a formal coherent framework for creative visual thinking. First, fundamentals of creativity and creative thought are discussed. Then designer’s dialogue with graphical outputs based on the constructive perception is analyzed. Constructive perception is defined as a composition of design actions combining normal seeing with visual imagination. The proposed framework enables one to describe many fundamental aspects of the creative thinking in a formal way.
