Search - INSTRUCTION FOR AUTHORS

  1. Switch to the search results screen by clicking on the magnifying glass symbol on the home page:

  1. After entering the author's name in the main search box, we get all results in which any metadata contains the phrase we entered, e.g.: ‘Nowak, Andrzej’. This means that ‘Nowak, Andrzej’ may appear, for example, in the abstract or keywords. This is the search method that gives the broadest results.

  1. To narrow down the results we can use advanced search.

Within the advanced search we have 2 available filters: Author and JU Author.

a. Filter ‘Author’ returns matches for all personal fields, i.e.: the ‘Last name, First name’ we entered appears in any of the following metadata:

  • Dc.contributor.author (Author)

  • Dc.contributor.editor (Editor)

  • Dc.contributor.translator (Translator)

  • Dc.contributor.reviewer (Reviewer)

  • Dc.contributor.advisor (Advisor)

  • Dc.contributor.other (Other)

  • Dc.contributor.serieseditor (Series editor)

  • Dc.contributor.translationeditor (Translation editor)

Entering the same author data as in section 2 returned 487 results in this case.

b. The ‘JU Author’ filter allows the most accurate and narrowed search for publications by JU staff. It can be used in two ways: by entering the author's surname and first name or ID number.

After entering the data in the format ‘Last name, First name’, the system displays a list of possible authors with their assigned SAP and/or USOS numbers and the units to which they belong.

After selecting an item from the list, the system automatically changes the author's details to an ID number. When you click ‘Search’, you get results for the person with the specific ID number assigned. This feature is particularly useful when there are two different authors from UJ with the same name.

When selecting the filter ‘JU Author’ in the search field, you can also enter the ID number directly.
