Transformations of childhood memories in literature and film on the example of "The Issa Valley" by Czesław Miłosz and "The Mirror" by Andrei Tarkovsky

Niniejsza praca poświęcona jest zjawisku przekształcania wspomnień z dzieciństwa w literaturze i filmie. Analiza oparta została na przykładach dwóch tekstów kultury – „Doliny Issy” Czesława Miłosza oraz „Zwierciadła” Andrieja Tarkowskiego. Dzięki wskazaniu podobieństw i różnic, dotyczących przede wszystkim doboru środków artystycznego przekazu, otrzymano obraz dwóch odrębnych podejść do pamięciowego materiału. Ponadto, w pracy wprowadzono zagadnienia pozwalające interpretować literaturę i film jako media pamięci, a także podjęto problem określenia granicy pomiędzy autobiografizmem a fikcją.

This work is devoted to the phenomenon of transforming childhood memories in literature and film. The analysis is based on examples of two cultural texts - Czesław Miłosz's "The Issa Valley" and Andrei Tarkovsky's "The Mirror". Thanks to the indication of similarities and differences, mainly concerning the selection of artistic expressions, we have received a picture of two separate approaches to the memory material. In addition, the work introduces issues that allow to interpret literature and film as media of memory, and also the problem of defining the boundary between autobiography and fiction has been addressed.
