A Gypsy's image in the linguistic picture of the world of Florynka Polish community near Grybów in nowosądecki county

Tematem niniejszej pracy jest wizerunek Cygana w językowym obrazie świata polskiej społeczności Florynki koło Grybowa w powiecie nowosądeckim. Celem rozprawy było ukazanie obrazu Cygana utrwalonego w słownictwie średniego oraz najstarszego pokolenia wsi. Materiał liczy 319 gwarowych określeń. Praca składa się z czternastu rozdziałów opisujących kolejno: założenia etnolingwistyki, wieś, w której zbierano materiał, gwarę mieszkańców, Cyganów jako grupę etniczną, pojęcie językowego obrazu świata, stereotyp i wyraz pospolity. Następnie przedstawione zostały wyniki analizy, która uwzględniała ogólne informacje o Cyganach (narodowość i wiek) oraz ich wygląd i zajęcia. Przedstawiono również funkcjonowanie Cyganów w społeczności wiejskiej. Wizerunek Cygana jest zdecydowanie negatywny. Na takie postrzeganie owej grupy etnicznej największy wpływ mają opozycja swój : obcy oraz stereotyp Cygana funkcjonujące w miejscowości.

The subject of this thesis is a Gypsy’ s image in the linguistic picture of the world of Florynka Polish community near Grybów in nowosądecki county. The aim of the work was to show a Gypsy’s picture included in vocabulary of medium and the oldest generation of the village. The material consists of 319 dialect terms. The thesis consists of fourteen sections describing in sequence: assumptions of ethnolinguistics, village in which the material was collected, dialect of residents, Gypsies as an ethnic group, the concept of linguistic picture of the world, the stereotype and the expression of common. Next, there were results of analisys, which included general information about Gypsies (nationality and age), their appearance and their activities. Gypsies are also presented in the functioning of the rural community. A Gypsy’s image is decisively negative. The opposition countryman: foreign and the stereotype have the greatest impact on such perception of Gypsy.
