Autobiographical Themes in Selected Magda Szabó’s Novels

Celem niniejszej pracy jest analiza wątków autobiograficznych znajdujących się w trzech wybranych powieściach węgierskiej pisarki Magdy Szabó. Inspiracją dla wielu dzieł pisarki były wydarzenia oraz osoby z jej życia. Można znaleźć w nich wątki dotyczące jej kariery, rodziny, dzieciństwa, wychowania, życia, szkoły czy nawet przekonań politycznych i religijnych. W pierwszym rozdziale przybliżona zostaje sylwetka pisarki. W następnych rozdziałach autorka zajmuje się analizą wątków autobiograficznych: w drugim rozdziale wątków występujących w powieści "Staroświecka historia", trzecim w "Zamkniętych drzwiach", natomiast w czwartym w książce dla młodzieży "Tajemnica Abigél".

The aim of this thesis is an analysis of occurring autobiographical themes in three novels of Magda Szabó selected by the author of this work. Many people from her life and events that transpired in it were a source of inspiration for the writer. In her books can be found topics that touch upon her carrier, family, childhood, upbringing, school or even political and religious beliefs. In the first short chapter the author delves into biography of Magda Szabó. Autobiographical topics that appear in the selected books are analysed in the next chapters. In the second chapter "Old-Fashioned Story" is a subjects of analysis, in the third "The Door" and in the fourth young-adult fiction novel "Abigail".
