Impact of climate change on the progress of Iceland's glacial and glaciofluvial sculpture

Praca poświęcona jest w głównej mierze lodowcom Islandii. Skupiono się w niej na ustaleniu wpływu zmian klimatu na rzeźbę glacjlalną oraz glacjofluwialną wyspy. Uwagę zwrócono przede wszystkim na zmianę zasięgu lodowców Vatnajökull oraz Skeidarjökull, głównie w XX w. Uwzględniono również prognozę dalszych zmian zasięgu lodowców oraz ich konsekwencje dla środowiska oraz ludzkości. Ponadto w pracy przedstawiono zmiany w rzeźbie Islandii, spowodowanej zmianami zasięgu lodowców jak i zmianami klimatycznymi. Dodatkowo poruszono problem powodzi lodowcowych, które na obszarze Islandii są przyczyną zmian w rzeźbie jak i zniszczeń dorobku ludzkiego.

The dissertation is mainly devoted to Iceland’s glaciers. It focuses on determining the impact of climate change on the glacial and glaciofluvial sculpture of the island. The attention was concentrate on the change in the glaciers of Vatnajökull and Skeidarjökull mainly in the 20th century. The forecast of further changes in glacier coverage and their consequences for the environment and humanity was also taken into account. In addition, dissertation presents changes in the sculpture of Iceland caused by changes in glacier range and climate change. Furthemore, the problem of glacial floods, which in Iceland are the cause of change in sculpture was raised as well as destruction of human goods.
