Transformations of style in the translation of Carina Rydberg's novel Osalig ande into Polish

Niniejsza praca poświęcona jest krytyce przekładu. Jej tematem są transformacje stylu w przekładzie powieści znanej szwedzkiej pisarki Cariny Rydberg „Osalig ande” na język polski. Poddaję analizie porównawczej tekst oryginału oraz tekst przekładu autorstwa Pawła Pollaka zatytułowany „Za krawędzią nocy”. Posługuję się takimi kategoriami jak amplifikacja, neutralizacja oraz inne nieadekwatności stylistyczne, starając się dowieść, że w przekładzie powieści zaszły zauważalne zmiany w obrębie stylu.

In this paper in the field of translation criticism I describe the transformations of style in the Polish translation of the novel ”Osalig ande” written by the known Swedish author Carina Rydberg. I present a comparative analysis of the original text and Paweł Pollak's translation. In my description I use categories such as amplification, neutralization and other stylistic inadequacies. The purpose of this paper is to prove that in the novel's translation observable changes concerning style have been made.
