Everything depends on how you perceive reality – Literary creations of schizophrenia (using selected examples)

Praca licencjacka pt.: Wszystko zależy od tego, jak postrzegasz rzeczywistość – literackie kreacje schizofrenii (na wybranych przykładach) stanowi część większego projektu badawczego, pod tym samym tytułem. Składa się z czterech rozdziałów i bibliografii. Są to: Delficka wyrocznia psychiatrii, Trzy oblicza schizofrenii, Specyfika kreacji bohaterek – narracja i język oraz Choroba królewska. Pierwszy rozdział stanowi wprowadzenie w zagadnienie literackich kreacji, w tym szczegółowo – kreacji schizofrenicznych; drugi przedstawia losy i osobowości autorek książek, przyjętych w pracy za materiał źródłowy; trzeci analizuje zastosowane przez nie narracje literackie i język; natomiast czwarty zawiera podsumowanie pracy. We wnioskach zawarto dociekania własne nad istotą stanu chorobowego, czyli pozostawania na granicy dwóch światów: rzeczywistego i urojonego, odpowiada się w nich również na pytanie o możliwość pełnego powrotu do zdrowia bohaterek książek po przeżyciu epizodu psychotycznego oraz dokonuje się oceny książek pod względem wiarygodności przedstawionych kreacji literackich.

The bachelor Thesis entitled Everything depends on how you perceive reality – literary creations of schizophrenia (using selected examples), constitutes the major part of my research project of the same title. It consists of four chapters and a bibliography. These are: The Delphic Oracle. The Three Faces of Schizophrenia. The Specific Characteristics of the Heroine Creations, Narrative and Language as well as The Royal Disease. The first chapter provides an introduction to the problem of literary creations, including, more specifically, schizophrenic creations. The second outlines the fates and personalities of the female authors of books selected in the thesis as source material. The third analyses their use of literary narratives and language, while the fourth contains a summary of the thesis. In the conclusions I include my own investigations into the nature of the disease, i.e. remaining on the boundary between two worlds, the real and the imaginary. In this part I also answer the question of whether the heroines of these books can make a full recovery following a psychotic episode as well as provide an assessment of the the books with regard to the credibility of the literary creations presented in them.
