The motif of marriage in Russian literature of the 19th century. On the basis of selected works by Fyodor Dostoyevsky and Leo Tolstoy

Niniejsza praca porusza bardzo popularny temat miłości, związków małżeńskich, stosunków międzyludzkich oraz relacji małżonków. Celem niniejszej rozprawy jest ogólne ujęcie tych zagadnień w kontekście psychologiczno-socjologicznym, prawnym i religijnym. Przedmiotem badań jest wiek XIX - czasy, kiedy to małżeństwa zawierano chętnie i szybko, a staropanieństwo odbierane było negatywnie. Najistotniejszą część rozprawy stanowi zaprezentowanie i omówienie motywu związków małżeńskich w XIX wieku na podstawie literatury rosyjskiej - pogłębiona analiza wybranych utworów prozatorskich Fiodora Dostojewskiego ("Łagodna", "Zbrodnia i kara") oraz Lwa Tołstoja ("Szczęście rodzinne", "Sonata Kreutzerowska"), a także opracowanie biografii autorów w oparciu o założenia przyjęte w rozdziale teoretycznym. Celem pracy jest analiza interpretacyjna rosyjskiej literatury pięknej, pod kątem motywów małżeńskich - analiza języka, bohaterów, kultury i obyczajów XIX-wiecznej Rosji. Metodą badawczą jest metoda biograficzna. W przypadku dzieł omawianych w niniejszej rozprawie, biografia autorów stanowi solidną podstawę sprzyjającą analizie tekstów oraz służy lepszemu zrozumieniu omawianych w dziełach problemów i przesłanek autorów.

This dissertation addresses the very popular topic of love, marital relationships, interpersonal relationships and spousal relationships. The aim of this dissertation is to provide a general overview of these issues in a psychological-sociological, legal and religious context. The subject of the study is the 19th century - the times when marriages were concluded willingly and quickly and when spinsterhood was perceived negativelyThe most important part of the thesis is the presentation and discussion of the motif of marriages in the 19th century on the basis of Russian literature - an in-depth analysis of selected prose works by Fyodor Dostoyevsky ("A Gentle Creature", "Crime and Punishment") and Leo Tolstoy ("Family Happiness", "The Kreutzer Sonata"), as well as a study of the authors' biographies based on the assumptions made in the theoretical chapter. The aim of the study is an interpretative analysis of Russian belles-lettres , in terms of marital motifs - an analysis of the language, characters, culture and customs of of 19th-century Russia. The research method is the biographical method. In the case of the works discussed in this dissertation, the biography of the authors provides a solid basis conducive to the analysis of the texts and serves to better understand the problems and premises of the authors discussed in the works.
