Praca ta ma na celu przedstawić koncept wampira o ludzkich cechach w powieści Anny Rice Wywiad z wampirem. Rozdział pierwszy, w głównej mierze teoretyczny, ukazuje historię mitu o wampirach w folklorze, literaturze i prawdziwym życiu. Pierwsza część tegoż rozdziału to streszczenie mitów o wampirach, istniejących na przestrzeni wieków w różnych zakątkach świata, i zaznaczenie ich wspólnych cech, druga część opowiada o przypadkach, w których postaciom historycznym przypisywano cechy wampirów, natomiast część trzecia opowiada o pierwszych przykładach literatury o wampirach. Rozdział drugi to interpretacja przedstawienia postaci Louisa the Pointe du Laca, głównego bohatera powieści Anny Rice.

This thesis aims to show the concept of a humanised vampire in Anne Rice's novel Interview with the Vampire. The first chapter is mostly theoretical and it deals with the history of the vampire myth in folklore, literature and real life. The first section of this chapter summarises various vampire myths that existed throughout the centuries in different parts of the world and highlights their common features, the second one is concerned with the cases of real-life figures who where accused of vampirism, and the third one reviews the first examples of vampire fiction. The second chapter is an interpretation of the portrayal of Louis the Pointe du Lac, the main character of Anne Rice's novel.
